The tournament was sponsored by charitable social enterprise GLL, which operates three leisure centres within Camden on behalf of Camden Council. In 2008 it launched the GLL Sport Foundation, which supports a number of young fencers who participated in the weekend's competition.
During the tournament Mark Sesnan, Managing Director at GLL said; "GLL is delighted to be sponsoring the Camden International Sabre Tournament once again. We recognise that sports such as fencing, which only receive limited national funding, will rely increasingly on support from independent organisations in the run up to 2012. And we hope that through sponsorship of events like this one and by helping individual athletes via the GLL Sport Foundation we will help to contribute to national success at the London Games".
