GLL Sport Foundation Launch Event
The House of Commons, March 2008
On 9th March 2008 the GLL Sport Foundation was formally launched to an audience at the House of Commons which included directors and chiefs of sporting associations and councils, as well as MPs, Peers and community organisations.
The House of Commons event was secured through the generous support of Lyn Brown MP with endorsement from Gerry Sutcliffe MP; Minister for Sport and Guest of Honour Phil Hope MP; Minister for Social Enterprise.
The packed audience was warmly thanked for their support by Sally Gunnell OBE; Patron of the GLL Sport Foundation. Sally was also a great hit with the many young athletes in attendance who had already received support from the Foundation.
Speeches from two of the GLL Sport Foundation ambassadors Dervis Konuralp (Paraylmpic Swimming) and Jo Ankier (Athletics) brought it home to all how a funding award from an organisation such as the GLL Sport Foundation can play a big part in helping an athlete realise their goals in the future.
The GLL Sport Foundation would like to thank all those who attended and supported us on the day - click on the video link to view the captured moments.
